Middle School Spanish (Grades 6-8)
Middle School students at Lake Tahoe School are lucky enough to take Spanish 5 days a week for 50 minutes each day with me. Spanish is a core subject and we are dedicated to students moving to an advanced high school level when entering 9th grade. Students use a variety of resources. There is a textbook used with correlating workbooks, music, video, chapter books, reading, writing and many orals. I am teaching students to speak and learn Spanish that will help them to travel, hold conversations, and potentially use in their future careers. Much of the class is conversational and project based. At the end of Spanish 3, students will be confident with five different tenses. In Spanish 3, students are also keeping weekly journals in Spanish as well as watching Spanish films, reading Spanish newspaper articles, studying Spanish artists and ancient Spanish civilizations & much more! Middle School students continue to study in depth Spanish speaking countries and their different cultures. Lower School Spanish (Grades 1-5) All Lower School Spanish meets twice a Week for 45 minutes. We believe that exposure to a foreign language is most important at these young ages as well as discussing with students the importance of learning a foreign language. Our students learn Spanish through song, music, workbooks, story books, projects, art, video, iPads, and various other learning strategies. By 5th grade, Spanish classes are writing short books in Spanish & presenting orals in front of the class. By also studying Spanish speaking countries and their cultures students get a sense of the traditions as well as celebrations of people around the world. |
